Summer is coming and it’s time to plan out our capsule wardrobe for summer. If you’ve spent any time on my page, than you probably know that we live in an RV full-time. Which means we have limited closet space. The best way to maximize our space and still stay trendy is by creating a capsule wardrobe.
I should probably preface this by saying I’m not a fashion blogger and this isn’t a fashion blog. But, it is a family lifestyle blog and this is part of our lifestyle. You get a little bit of everything around here. So, let’s dive in together and build our capsule wardrobes.

Build A Capsule Wardrobe for Summer

What is a Capsule Wardrobe?
If you’re new to the term ‘capsule wardrobe’, you’re in the right place. A capsule wardrobe is a minimalists approach to styling. Instead of focusing on quantity, you focus on high quality pieces. You build a wardrobe around neutral pieces you can make multiple outfits out of. Adding articles of clothing that compliment each other and can be layered to create different styles.
A capsule wardrobe is typically made up of 20-50, including accessories and shoes. Neutrals are best, but adding seasonal trends is great too. The idea is to make 5-8 outfits out of each piece in your closet.
Why Do You Need a Capsule Wardrobe?
Everyone can benefit from a capsule wardrobe. Whether you’re working with a small closet space or limited budget, a capsule wardrobe will fit your needs. Capsule wardrobes are great for people with smaller closet spaces. When you can build 8 outfits out of one article of clothing, you can really maximize your closet space.
With only 20-50 pieces, you are intentional about what you buy and reduce excess spending. You can focus on high-quality and sustainable pieces that you can keep for years. This is both great for your wallet, but also for the environment. While the upfront cost may be high, you’ll save money in the long run.
What To Put In My Capsule Wardrobe?
Dresses
My favorite thing to wear in the summer is dresses. They are loose and allow for the most airflow. You can dress them up or down and they are the great all around piece. I try to pick dresses that I can style for spring, summer, and fall.
Tops
Linen is in this year and it’s a great transitional piece! It’s comfy, light weight, and great for layering. I like to invest in quality tanks that I can wear all year long.
Long Sleeves/Cover Ups
Button Ups and Cardigans are a great layering piece. Invest in a few quality button ups that you can use as a bathing suit cover up or over your favorite tank. You can wear these in the spring and fall when the cooler evenings set in.
Pants
Every capsule wardrobe needs a high quality bottom that can last all year. Light weight pants are great for cool nights and can be worn anytime in the spring and fall.
Shorts
Everyone needs a few pairs of shorts in their summer wardrobe. I like neutral shorts that I can dress up or dress down. You can never go wrong with a classic pair of jean shorts.
Skirts
Skirts are probably my second favorite thing to wear in the summer. You can wear a flowy maxi and a cute top for date night. And then wear that same maxi as a cover up to the beach. Tennis skirts are in this season and are a great way to look up together with minimal effort.
Accessories
Every capsule wardrobe needs a few staple accessories. Wether it be dainty jewelry you wear all year or summer themed, you have to have a few! My favorite accessories for this summer are straw hats and rattan bags!
What Am I Wearing This Summer?
This summer, I’m focusing on quality pieces that I can dress up and wear down. But also pieces that will carry me into summer. Living in Florida, I like to invest in clothes I can wear year round and add a few seasonal things
