Fun Fact: Lancaster, Pennsylvania is my hometown. While I haven’t lived there for awhile, I spent 18 years of my life in Lancaster. Now that I have kids, one of my favorite things is showing them where I grew up. A few weeks ago, we stayed at Lancaster Arts Hotel and had the chance to explore Lancaster City.
Lancaster Arts Hotel is a boutique hotel in the Uptown Neighborhood of Lancaster City, across from Clipper Magazine Stadium and down the street from Franklin & Marshall College. Previously a tobacco factory, Lancaster Arts Hotel has preserved the beautiful elements to create a one-of-a-kind hotel.
The heart of Lancaster Arts Hotel is to embrace its roots, honor the city, and showcase the work of local artists. All throughout the hotel, guests are exposed to works created by local artists. It’s a great way for the hotel to connect guests with the influences of the city.

What We Love About Lancaster Arts Hotel
The artwork is just one unique thing about the hotel. As a boutique hotel, Lancaster Arts Hotel goes above and beyond to make guests feel valued throughout their stay. They had little touches that are special and make guests want to return. Between the natural beauty of the hotel and the little things they do, there is a lot to love about Lancaster Arts Hotel.
Here’s what we loved about our stay there.
1. Exposed brick and raw materials
One of the coolest things about the hotel is the exposed brick and raw elements. It’s one way the hotel has preserved the history of the building. In my opinion, it makes the rooms feel extremely cozy and gives the hotel its’ uniqueness.
2. Local art displayed around the hotel
The hotel takes its’ name seriously and does an incredibly job showcasing local artwork throughout the hotel. You can find unique pieces in the lobby, gallery, hallways, and guest rooms. Literally everywhere in the hotel.
One of the coolest aspects of the hotel is that you can purchase any of the artwork you see displayed. You can stay at a super cool hotel, support local artists, and decorate your home all at once!
3. Flowers and chocolates delivered to your room
Maybe one of the sweetest (literally) parts of the hotel is that each night of your stay, a rose and chocolates are delivered to your room. I’ve never stay at a hotel that does something so special for each and every guest. This special touch makes guests feel valued and makes people want to come back again.

4. Guest artwork in the elevator
Not only is artwork from local artists displayed, but so is guest artwork! Every room has a sketchbook for guests to create art of their own art. The hotel celebrates art of all kinds. You can find books upon books of guests artwork in the lobby and even displayed in the elevator. I love to see how creative people are and I think it’s a really cool aspect of the hotel.

5. Location, location, location!
Location is the most important part of a good hotel. Not only is LAH in a great part of Lancaster City, it is within walking distance of great attractions, restaurants, and breweries.
When traveling with my kids, being able to find food quickly and easily is my top priority. There is nothing worse than searching for food with hangry children. Not only is there a restaurant at the hotel, sharing a parking lot is a retail strip with breakfast/lunch spots.
Clipper Magazine Stadium, home of the Lancaster Barnstormers, is across the street. In the spring and summer, you can attend baseball games. The stadium also holds family-friendly events throughout the year.
LAH is just a short drive away from the heart of Amish Country. No visit to Lancaster is complete without diving into the Pennsylvania Dutch culture. You won’t want to miss the Dutch inspired food, farm tours, buggy rides, and authentic goods.

Happy Travels!
